ABOUT Chrysalis
Chrysalis is a spiritual renewal program intended to strengthen the local church youth through the development of Christian disciples and leaders. The program's approach seriously considers the model of Christ's servant hood and encourages Christ's disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all."
HISTORY
Chrysalis is an adapted from The Walk to Emmaus which is an adaptation of the Roman Catholic Cursillo Movement, which originated in Spain in 1949. Cursillo de Cristianidad means "little course in Christianity."
STRUCTURE AND ORGANIZATION
Chrysalis is grounded theologically and institutionally in The Upper Room ministry unit of the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church.
HOW TO ATTEND
To get involved in Chrysalis, each person must have a spiritual sponsor who has already attended Chrysalis or Emmaus him- or herself. If you have a friend who has been Chrysalis or Emmaus, ask your friend to tell you about his or her experience with the program.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM A WEEKEND
Chrysalis offers today's disciples an opportunity to rediscover Christ's presence in their lives, to gain fresh understanding of God's transforming grace, and to form friendships that foster faith and support spiritual maturity. While Chrysalis provides a pathway to the mountaintop of God's love, it also supports Caterpillars' return to the world in the power of the Spirit to share the love they have received with a hurtful and hurting world.
